BIELESZ, Adam: The Activities of the Disciplinary Bodies of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Slovakia in the Context of the Involvement of Slovak Members of Sonderkommando Edelweiss

At the end of 1962, the disciplinary bodies of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Slovakia (ÚV KSS) began investigating the past of several KSS members who had served in the Sonderkommando Edelweiss during 1944 and 1945. This special antipartisan unit was active during the Slovak National Uprising and after its suppression. Documents concerning the activities of the disciplinary bodies of the ÚV KSS demonstrate, through several examples, that party screenings uncovered the involvement of certain KSS members in the massacres committed in the villages of Ostrý Grúň and Kľak. Despite their past, these individuals managed to integrate into the new political system after the war and remained part of it until 1962.
