BIELESZ, Adam: Štefan Mládek’s political activities in Malacky in the 1940s and 1950s

Štefan Mládek, a native of Malacky, played a prominent role in the political life of his hometown for nearly two decades. Beginning as a Social Democratic official and civil servant, he later became a resistance fighter before assuming the position of chairman of the Local National Committee. In this capacity, he emerged as a central figure in the February coup and in the collectivisation of agriculture during the early 1950s. His life story exemplifies the profound transformations experienced by Slovak society throughout the twentieth century.
